The human mind consists of two parts, the conscious and the subconscious. The smaller of the two is the conscious part which is rational and analytical. Only about 10% of the mind's thinking power is handled by the conscious part.

This part is irrational, suggestible and receptive, and functions like a computer, faithfully carrying out one's unique programming based beliefs, expectations and experiences. Involuntary process such as heart rate, blood pressure and hormonal secretions are also under the autonomic control of the subconscious mind.

Hypnosis works by slipping beneath the conscious mind that part of ourselves that we identify as "I" while awake and going about our daily lives...To the unconscious, where one's memories of experiences, beliefs and earliest childhood concept are stored.

In the hypnotic state, the fluid nature of the subconscious mind accepts imagery and the power of suggestion as "true" and sets forth to replicate them, creating the desired changes. Also former negative effects, such as patterns of behavior or thinking that are self-destructive, self-defeating or painful are resolved, bringing healing and freedom from their negative effects.
